The Chief Commanda Boat
Another excursion to be had is right on Lake Nipissing. It is on the Chief Commanda boat. One excursion is called the moonlight cruise following the shore of the lake to Callander Bay and back. You are able to view the lights of the city and surrounding areas, while gently cruising the lake.
The Chief is licensed for alcoholic beverages and there is also some fine food available, you can also dance if you wish to, or go to the top level to enjoy the stars and the fresh air.
One of the other cruises available is a four or five hour trip that takes you across the lake to the French River area. You then go down the French River that the voyageurs travelled to discover new territories to hunt, fish and trap for furs. This is how the north was settled by waterways.
On the French you will see beautiful scenery, and a few interspursed cottages along the way that you will never forget. You will travel quite a ways until the river is blocked by a dam. If the dam were not there you could travel by waterway all the way to the great lakes. Eventually they hope to find a way to bypass it thereby opening up these waters to boaters.
The fishing is great in this area because the river is very deep and provides colder water in the summer, when it is hot for fish who dont like water that is too warm.
When you come to North Bay be sure to check out the Chief Commanda you'll enjoy it.
