Hunting, Fishing and Sports

North Bay and surrounding areas has plenty of hotels , motels and hunting and fishing lodges to accommodate all who visit. Some of these lodges are fly in and others you can drive to, there you can hunt, fish or just plain old relax with your family and friends. In all these places you will be treated royally.

For the more activity minded people we have nature trails for walking and hiking. There are also right in the city, biking, roller blading and walking paths, that meander by the lakeshore and throughout the city.

Another sport that is growing is mountain bike riding. We have in the area mountain bike clubs that have marked trails, in a variety of terrain formations.

Dirt bike riding is also growihg fast, with clubs forming all the time. They use some of our ski hill facilities, marked and unmarked trails, some of which are groomed. Or you can go in the bush wherever you want.

There is a golf club in the city called The North Bay Golf and Country Club which has 18 holes. There are also quite a few other golf clubs within a half to ono hours drive. So there is quite a variety of ranges for the golfers to experience.

Another sport that many people enjoy is canoing or paddling as some reffer to it. There too we have Canoe Clubs that people can use to get information about where to go and what kinds of waters you want to experience.

Winter sports are well enjoyed and growing by leaps and bounds. One is ice fishing, that can be done within a few minutes walk right on Lake Nipissing and Trout Lake in the city. There are also a multitude of lakes and rivers that are, some of them within half an hours drive of the city.

Snowmobiling is one of the more popular sports we have in the area. There are Snowmobile Clubs in every city and town in the north. They are all working together to build trails linking them all together. Some of this trail building is very well advanced with well groomed trails that are well marked and patrolled by police and First Aid patrols that are well equipped for emerbencies. Some of these trails have clubhouses built at well travelled areas to allow the travellers to warm up and also do what has to be done, if you know what I mean. The intention of these clubs and other interested parties is to be able to travel for hundreds of miles, visit different towns all by snowmobile. They are very well advanced already, so if you are a snowmobile enthusiast you are welcome to travel our trails.
